Coming back from winter break can always be a little bit sad but also a little bit exciting. The trick to starting off your second semester is to keep focused! That early 8am class on a Monday may not seem like a lot of fun, but going to all of your lectures (even the early and boring ones) can help you to keep your marks up and be prepared for the final exam. Even though your mind may still be in winter break mode, make sure to make a few adjustments to put your brain back into school mode.
First, getting a good nights sleep will help you stay awake in your lectures and seminars. Second, eating well and staying healthy is super important! And don't forget to pay attention in lecture! Try taking notes by hand instead of using your laptop, even just for one class.
Good luck in the coming semester!

Sleepless in University
Ever find yourself staring at the ceiling just wishing you could fall asleep but your brain won't let you? Here are some awesome tricks to try and get your brain to stop going 1000 miles a minute and for you to get your beauty sleep.
1. Listen to relaxing music
2. Take a hot shower
3. Make some tea (and drink it too!)
4. Read a book
5. Count sheep (or cows, llamas, whatever floats your boat)
6. Sleep the opposite way you normally do
and of course, if you get up earlier in the day you will be more tired when you finally do make your way to bed and in turn sleep will find you! Best of luck on your adventure to the land of dreams!

30 Hour Famine Update
So the 30 hour famine is over...and it was an interesting experience to say the least. I discovered a few things about myself on the way, some good and some not so good. But I think that overall, I learned that I have a lot more willpower than I originally thought! But enough about that, let me tell you a little bit about the famine...and the 30 hours of not eating, not sleeping, and having amazing times of awesomeness. So the famine started at 8am on Friday morning, and I had to go all day without food, and when you are ridiculously bored in class, food can sound really good, and smell really good, and look really good. But I made it to 6pm where we all met up in CJ's. We played some pretty awesome games (Knights, Horses, Cavaliers for the win!) and got to make posters for the Basketball game! There were 50 tickets donated to the famine, and so we got to all troop over to Bob Davis to see the basketball game, and it was super intense! I think I almost lost my voice from yelling like a crazy person, but it worked because Brock Badgers won! WOOT! There was also a campfire, movies, and lots of hangout time. I didn't sleep (well, maybe a 45 min nap at 6 am) and made it through the first two Lord of the Rings movies. Saturday morning was brutal! I was so hungry, but I knew that it was only a few hours until I would be able to eat awesome pancakes. And so, while watching saturday morning cartoons and crocheting milk bags, I made it through and completed the 30 hours! And even though I was tired, hungry and pretty cranky, it was definitely worth it! 30 hours to help change the world. Would you do it?

30 Hour Famine
Ever heard of the 30 hour famine? It's an awesome opportunity to raise money and awareness for World Vision and the fight against hunger. But what does 30 hours have to do with anything? Well, starting at 8 am today (Friday) I will not be eating anything for 30 hours. Yup, nothing, nada, zilch. Am I excited for the those 30 hours? I wouldn't say excited...but I am interested to see just what I am capable of if I put my mind to it. Plus, it will help knowing that my 30 hours will help someone for more than that. So stay tuned for updates on my adventure into the land of not eating! It's going to be a long 30 hours, but hopefully they will be fun!
